It is virtually painless. After applying premium numbing anesthetics, we gently disperse fine dots of pigment across the top layer of skin, which is less invasive than microblading.

Accepted Answer

It is ideal for oily skin and large pores, darker skin types, and anyone wanting a defined, makeup-ready, filled-in look. It is not ideal for full eyebrow recovery where microblading or fusion brows may suit better.

Who is not a good candidate for microshading?

Accepted Answer

The following conditions may affect your results or eligibility: Recently had botox, injectables, cosmetic procedures or surgery. Scar tissue within the brows (from past accidents, chicken pox or acne) as these areas do not absorb pigment well and will fade faster. Acne-prone skin. Little to no eyebrow hair. Alopecia. Our experts can create a life-like illusion of hair, but results are best when at least some natural brow hair is present. Those taking blood-thinning medication or high doses of supplements. Please disclose all medical information before your procedure. Having one of the above conditions does not automatically disqualify you. Results may be less optimal, but we assess each client individually and will always be upfront if we feel we cannot achieve your goal, recommending alternatives instead.

What happens to my brows right after the microshading procedure?

Your brows may look darker and more defined for the first 7 to 10 days. Colour looks darkest and most intense for the first 7 to 10 days. Brows lighten as they heal and any scabs fall off toward the end of the first week. They begin to shrink and settle in 4 to 7 days, depending on your skin type. Although the initial healing can be as quick as 9 to 14 days, we recommend allowing a full month for the pigment to fully settle before your Perfecting Touch Up.

What is the microshading process like step by step?

The entire appointment takes around 2 to 3 hours with no downtime. Here is what to expect: We start with a short health history form to confirm you are a good candidate. You can pre-fill this online before you arrive. We then consult on your preferences and map out a brow design tailored to your features. Every person’s brow shape is unique, so no two designs are identical. We advise going slightly larger and darker, as brows fade and shrink 20 to 30 percent during natural healing. The microshading process begins only after you have reviewed and approved the mapped design. We disperse thousands of fine pigment dots across the upper epidermal layer in a precise shading technique. We finish by cleaning the area and handing you a mirror to review the results. We send you home with aftercare instructions to follow for the next 4 to 8 weeks before your Perfecting Touch Up. Please be on time for your appointment. Arriving more than 20 minutes late without notice may result in needing to reschedule, as we must respect every client’s scheduled time.

What is the Perfecting Touch Up and do I need it?

The Perfecting Touch Up is the second and final part of your eyebrow transformation. After healing, pigment may have scabbed, shifted or faded unevenly. The touch up corrects these areas and locks in your ideal shape. Many clients also decide after seeing their healed brows that they want minor adjustments, such as a slightly higher arch or fuller ends. That is exactly what the Perfecting Touch Up session is for. Skipping the Perfecting Touch Up will cause your new brows to fade significantly faster.

Will ombré powder brows look too dark or unnatural?

Accepted Answer

Right after the procedure your brows will look noticeably darker and more defined than the finished result. This is completely normal. Pigment fades and softens by 20 to 40 percent during the first two weeks of healing, settling into a much softer, more natural tone. The final healed result looks like softly applied brow powder or pencil, not a harsh drawn-on line. Your artist maps the shape and shade with you before starting, so you have full approval before any pigment is placed. Clients who want a lighter, more natural finish simply say so during the design consultation.

How much do ombré powder brows cost at Iconbrows?

The full service, including the complimentary Perfecting Touch Up, is priced at CAD $700. A $100 deposit is collected at booking and goes toward the total. Optional follow-up appointments for existing clients include: Perfecting Touch Up (4 to 8 weeks after initial service): $200. Client Re-Touch and Boost (6 to 24 months after initial service): $300. New Client Cover-Up and Correction (for previous PMU from another artist): $900. All appointments are by booking only. A free 10-minute consultation is available if you have questions before committing.

What is the difference between ombré powder brows and combo brows?

Ombré powder brows use a shading-only technique: thousands of tiny pigment dots build a soft gradient from lighter at the front to fuller and darker toward the tail, mimicking brow powder or pencil makeup. Combo brows (sometimes called fusion brows) combine both hair-stroke work at the front and powder shading through the body and tail. They are a good middle ground for clients who want some hair-like texture at the front but also the durability of shading on oilier areas. If you are unsure which suits you best, mention it during your consultation and your artist will recommend based on your skin type, existing brow hair, and the look you want.

Can ombré powder brows cover or correct old microblading or previous PMU?

Accepted Answer

In many cases, yes. Powder shading can be layered over faded microblading or old brow PMU to refresh the shape and even out patchy colour. However, this depends on how saturated, dark, or discoloured the existing work is. If you have previous brow work from another artist, please contact us before booking. We offer a dedicated New Client Cover-Up and Correction appointment designed for exactly this situation. We assess the existing pigment and advise on whether a direct cover-up is possible or whether any lightening or correction steps are needed first. Attempting to cover very dark or heavily saturated old work without assessment can lead to unpredictable results, so we always review each case individually.

Question 13

Can I get ombré powder brows while pregnant or breastfeeding?

We do not perform any PMU service, including ombré powder brows, during pregnancy or while actively breastfeeding. This is standard practice across reputable PMU studios and the reasons are straightforward: Hormonal changes during pregnancy can alter how pigment is absorbed and how colour heals, making results unpredictable. Numbing anesthetics used during the procedure are not considered safe for use during pregnancy. Any risk of infection, however small, carries greater consequences during pregnancy. Facial tissue can shift during pregnancy, which may affect the final shape once the body returns to its normal state. We recommend waiting until after pregnancy and breastfeeding have concluded before booking. We are happy to answer questions or hold a free consultation in the meantime so you are ready to book as soon as the time is right.

If you are travelling toward downtown, take the QEW toward the city and exit at Park Lawn, then turn right after Legion Road. FREE underground parking is available.
