Eyelash extensions are individual strands of synthetic fibers made to replicate a natural eyelash. When applied, they lengthen and thicken your own natural eyelashes. They are applied to each individual lash, one by one. With proper application, lash extensions look and feel completely natural.

Are eyelash extensions safe?

Accepted Answer

During the procedure, our eyelash extension expert applies each extension to your own lashes one at a time. It should not hurt, though you may notice some slight tugging or pressure as each lash is applied. We use a low-fume glue that does not burn or sting your eyes. You may experience some slight stinging if you have extremely dry eyes or eyes that do not close properly.

Can I use makeup on my eyelash extensions?

Accepted Answer

Yes, as long as it is oil-free and very low in glycol or glycerin. These ingredients attack the glue, loosen the lash bond and cause extensions to fall prematurely. Please do not use mascara on volume or hybrid lashes. Regardless of brand, mascara makes volume fans snap shut, leaving lashes clumpy and stuck together. We cannot infill volume lashes that have had mascara applied to them.

How do I remove makeup while wearing eyelash extensions?

Use a lash-safe makeup remover and cleanser. These products are gentle on the adhesive and will not cause premature shedding. Oil-based makeup removers and cleansers can cause the adhesive to lose its grip and lead to early lash loss.

How do I choose the right style of eyelash extensions?

We offer three main styles to suit different looks and preferences. Classic Beauty: lashes similar to your natural ones in thickness, giving a well-defined, mascara-on look that is fuller and longer. Volume Glam: much finer lashes, often two to three times lighter than natural lashes, creating a full lash line that still looks very natural. How do I take care of my eyelash extensions?

Accepted Answer

Do not wet or dampen your lashes for 24 hours after your appointment. During that period the lash glue is still curing. Avoid steamy showers, baths, saunas, heavy gym sessions, rain and swimming. After 24 hours you are completely fine to carry on as normal. Do not rub or pull your lashes. The more you touch them with your fingers, the more oil and dirt you introduce to the area. If you are having a facial, let your therapist know you have extensions. Lashes do not mix well with steam, so they can usually adjust the treatment. Do not book a facial immediately after having extensions applied. Gently brush your lashes with a lash wand each morning to de-tangle and fluff them out. Avoid steam rooms and saunas. If you do hot yoga regularly, come in for infills more often to keep your lashes looking full.

What are lash infills and how often do I need them?

Your natural lashes shed and renew on their own cycle, typically every 2 to 3 weeks. As old lashes fall, they take their extension with them, leaving small gaps. When the new baby lash is mature and strong enough to hold an extension, we fill it in at your infill appointment so your set always looks full.

Why won't my eyelash extensions last?

The most common cause of early shedding is oily product use and being rough when cleansing. Try to cleanse gently but thoroughly. How long lashes last varies from person to person. Someone with drier skin wearing less eye makeup and a fuller set will typically get more wear than someone with oily skin, lots of eye makeup and a lighter set. Hormonal changes, certain medications like thyroid treatments or roaccutane, can also affect retention. Most people need an infill every 2 to 3 weeks, which is completely normal. How do I prepare for an eyelash extensions appointment?

Arrive with clean, makeup-free eyes. Remove all mascara beforehand as residue can prevent the extensions from bonding correctly. Avoid Vaseline or petroleum-based products around the eye area, and do not have your lashes permed within 2 to 3 months of your appointment. For the best results, keep the skin around your eyes clean and free of makeup and oil. Make sure all tools used on or around your eyes, such as tweezers and mascara wands, are clean before use.

Can you swim, shower or work out with lash extensions?

After the first 24 hours the adhesive is fully cured and you are fine to shower, swim and exercise as normal. Avoid steam rooms and hot yoga as ongoing heat and humidity can shorten retention over time. When showering, try not to aim a strong jet of water directly at your lashes. After swimming, rinse your lashes gently with fresh water to remove chlorine or salt. Pat them dry softly and give them a quick brush with your lash wand. Sweat itself will not ruin your extensions, though heavy and frequent sessions can affect retention. If you train hard most days, plan your infills a little closer together to keep your set looking full.

How should I sleep with eyelash extensions?

Accepted Answer

Sleeping on your back is the easiest way to keep your lashes in good shape overnight. Side sleeping can press extensions into the pillow and cause them to bend or shed faster on that side. If back sleeping isn’t comfortable for you, a silk or satin pillowcase is a great alternative. The smooth surface creates far less friction than cotton and helps your lashes glide rather than snag as you move in your sleep.

Can I wear mascara with lash extensions?

With classic lashes you can use a water-based, oil-free mascara on the tips only if you want extra definition. Avoid applying it to the base of the extensions where the adhesive bond sits. With volume or hybrid lashes, mascara is not recommended. It collapses the handmade fans, causes lashes to clump together and makes it very difficult for us to infill the set properly at your next appointment. In practice most clients find they do not need mascara at all. One of the main benefits of extensions is waking up with lash-ready eyes every morning.

If you are traveling from downtown Toronto, take the QEW highway toward the airport and exit at Lakeshore. You will arrive right in front of our building. If you are traveling toward downtown Toronto, take the QEW toward the city, exit at Park Lawn and turn right after Legion Road. FREE underground parking is available. Do not arrive late. Take a moment to calculate your drive time the day before your appointment. Out of respect for all clients, we may not be able to service late arrivals. Consider the traffic. Toronto traffic can be heavy during peak hours, so please factor that into your travel time. Use the restroom before you arrive so you can enjoy your service comfortably and relaxed. Arrive alone. To maintain a clean and sterile environment for all clients, we ask that guests do not accompany you inside during your appointment.
