What is the Iconbrows microneedling process like?

During a microneedling treatment we use a specialist machine that makes thousands of microscopic puncture holes in the surface of the skin. These punctures stimulate the body to start healing, replacing old, weakened cells and creating stronger collagen and elastin, the compounds that give your skin its firm, smooth appearance. Your Iconbrows expert may apply a topical serum that soaks directly into the skin through the micro-permeations created by the device. Serums applied during your procedure have increased benefits and stimulate a variety of healing and rejuvenating processes. After the treatment, the skin is cleansed and a soothing post-treatment cream is used to hydrate, heal and protect the skin.

What should I expect after my treatment?

You will likely experience redness and mild swelling similar to a slight sunburn immediately after treatment, which can last from a few hours to a day or so depending on the depth of treatment. Minor pinpoint bleeding during treatment is normal and dissipates quickly. For deeper treatments, expect the skin to feel dry and itchy with minor flaking for a few days. Minor breakouts can occur due to the release of toxins and old collagen fibers from below the skin's surface. We advise guests not to touch the skin for a few hours. You will be sent home with a sample cleanser and hyaluronic acid to care for your skin after the procedure. Avoid the following after your service: Retinol, AHAs (glycolic, lactic, salicylic) and other active ingredients for 2-3 days after treatment. Makeup for 24 hours, as the skin will absorb chemicals. Jane Iredale Skincare Makeup is safe to use following treatment. Direct sun exposure for 48 hours. Wear a minimum SPF 20 daily for the first few weeks after treatment.

Am I a good candidate for microneedling?

Microneedling can be safely performed on all skin types and colors, including sensitive skin, as it helps strengthen the skin and reduce sensitivity. You are not a candidate for microneedling if you: Have used Roaccutane (Isotretinoin) within the last six months. Have eczema, psoriasis, active acne, rosacea or other chronic skin conditions in the area to be treated. Are seeking treatment for scarring that is less than six months old. Have had facial Botox or fillers injected within the last six weeks. Have had a chemical peel within the last two weeks. Have open wounds, cuts, abrasions, sunburn or active skin infection on or around the area to be treated. Have had radiation treatment to the skin in the treatment area within the last year. Are prone to Herpes Simplex or Zoster infections, as treatment can trigger breakouts. Are pregnant or breastfeeding. Have raised moles, warts or lesions within the area of treatment. Have any history of keloid or hypertrophic scars, or are prone to poor wound healing. Have a history of Scleroderma or Collagen Vascular Disease. Have a history of immunosuppression.

How do I prepare for microneedling?

Discontinue blood-thinning over-the-counter medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen-based medications, Omega-3, Vitamin E, garlic, St. John's Wort and Ginkgo Biloba seven days before treatment. Check with your doctor before stopping any prescribed medications. Two weeks before your treatment, avoid waxing or chemical depilatories in the area to be treated. For at least one week before your treatment, avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning beds. One week before your treatment, stop using topical products containing active ingredients such as retinol or AHAs (glycolic, lactic or salicylic acid).

More significant improvements in texture, tone, and fine lines develop over the following 4 to 8 weeks as new collagen remodels beneath the surface. For deeper concerns like acne scarring or pronounced lines, the most visible changes typically build across a series of sessions. Results can continue improving for several months after your final treatment.

How much downtime does microneedling involve?

Downtime is minimal compared to laser resurfacing or chemical peels. Most clients experience redness and mild sensitivity similar to a slight sunburn for 24 to 72 hours. Skin may feel dry or slightly tight for a few days after deeper treatments. You can return to normal daily activities the same day. We recommend avoiding intense exercise, direct sun exposure, and active skincare ingredients for the first 48 to 72 hours after treatment.

Can I wear makeup after microneedling?

We ask clients to avoid regular makeup for 24 hours after treatment, as freshly treated skin absorbs ingredients more readily and is more sensitive to irritants. If you need coverage sooner, Jane Iredale Skincare Makeup is a safe option and can be used immediately following treatment. After the first 24 hours, you can return to your usual makeup routine as your skin tolerates it.
