What is the lip blushing process like?

The entire Iconbrows Lip Blush process takes around 2 to 3 hours. There is no down time. We apply a numbing agent before the procedure, then give you aftercare instructions so your lips heal beautifully before your Perfecting Touch Up Session. Please follow the instructions carefully to avoid infection. The Iconbrows Lip Blush process is unique to our studio. Every studio is different. Even if you have had a PMU service done elsewhere, we ask that you follow our policy and process as we have refined it through years of experience and training with master-level artists around the world. First we do some basic paperwork to review your medical history and confirm you are a good candidate. You can also pre-fill this information via our online forms. We then start the design consultation, discussing your preferences and goals, and map out a shape and design incorporating your input and our advice. After you review and approve the mapped design, we begin the Lip Blushing process. We will not start until you approve your new lips. We make precise placements of custom-made colour pigment into the upper layer of your lips. We do multiple passes over your lips to build the colour vibrancy, shape and definition you approved. We end the session by cleaning up the area and handing you a mirror to inspect the results. We finish your appointment with advice on how to care for your lips over the next 4 to 8 weeks before you return for your Perfecting Touch Up once they have fully healed. Please be considerate of our time. We have the right to refuse service for arrivals more than 20 minutes late without notice, no-shows, and multiple cancellations. Please plan your travel the day before and account for traffic.

Who is a good candidate for lip blush?

Those who want a more lifted and defined look without surgery or injections. Busy people who want to save time getting ready in the morning. Those who experience stress from drawing in their lips every day. Those who want to wake up looking polished right out of bed. Those with active lifestyles who want to look great even without makeup on.

Who is not a good candidate for lip blush?

Accepted Answer

Those who recently had botox, injectables, cosmetic procedures or surgery in and around the lips. Please wait at least 4 to 6 months depending on the previous procedure. Those prone to keloid scarring or active cold sores. You will require treatment from your doctor for 2 to 4 weeks before lip blushing can be done. Those with uncontrolled diabetes. High or unstable blood sugar can significantly reduce healing and increase the risk of infection. Those taking blood-thinning medication or supplements. You must disclose all medical information before your procedure. We may deny service if we feel results would be compromised. Even if some of the above apply, that doesn't necessarily mean you can't get lip blush. Results may not be optimal, but a skilled technician can still work with many of these parameters. Most studios will reject these candidates outright, but we prefer to assess each case individually. Our goal is to make sure you are happy with your lips. If we feel we will be unable to achieve your goals, we will disclose this and recommend options better suited to your situation.

What is the pre-care for lip blush?

4 to 6 weeks before: Do not get lip fillers. If you have had lip fillers, please book or reschedule your appointment at least 6 weeks from your last injection. 2 weeks before: No lip whitening, teeth whitening or teeth bleaching. No lip stains or lip plumpers. 1 week before: Drink plenty of water to keep your lips hydrated. Use lip balm, Aquaphor, or Vitamin A and D to keep your lips soft. Gently exfoliate your lips with a lip scrub or a mix of salt or sugar in coconut oil. IMPORTANT: If your lips are chapped and dry on the day of your appointment, you may experience bleeding and poor colour deposit, which can require additional touch ups. 24 hours before: No alcohol. No caffeine (coffee, sodas, energy drinks, teas). No substance use. Do not use oil-based products on your lips as they can clog pores and reduce pigment retention. Refrain from taking Advil, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Vitamin E, and fish oil supplements 24 to 48 hours before.

What is the after-care for lip blush?

Right after your appointment your lips will appear more intense and brighter in colour for a few days. This is normal. Keep your new lips clean and moist using the provided lip balm throughout the day for 7 to 10 days. Do not let the area dry out completely, as this can cause scabbing and cracking. IMPORTANT: Avoid touching, peeling or picking your new lips. Let them heal naturally. First 7 to 10 days: No lipstick, lip gloss, lip liner or other cosmetics or oil-based products on your lips. No excess sweating or exercising. Avoid water on your lips as much as possible. Use a straw when drinking. Avoid drinks that can stain your lips, such as red wine or beet juice. Be careful when brushing your teeth to avoid irritating your lips. When eating, avoid overusing napkins to wipe your lips. Avoid spicy, salty or sour foods until your lips have fully healed. First 2 weeks: No lip whitening, teeth whitening or teeth bleaching. No facials, lip waxing, lip threading or intense skin treatments. No pools, saunas or prolonged sun exposure, as these can cause pigment to fade before it settles. Use a sunscreen-based lip balm frequently after the first 2 weeks. IMPORTANT: Avoid touching, peeling or picking your new lips. Let them heal naturally.

What is the Perfecting Touch Up and do I really need it?

The Perfecting Touch Up is the second part of your lip transformation. After your lips go through their natural healing process, the pigment may scab, darken, lighten or come off depending on how well you follow the aftercare. The Perfecting Touch Up addresses those changes and ensures your lips end up exactly as designed. Some clients also wish to make adjustments after seeing their healed lips at home, such as a slightly larger shape or a lighter shade. We handle those refinements during the Perfecting Touch Up session. Without the Perfecting Touch Up, your new lips will fade much faster.

How much does lip blush cost at Iconbrows?

Our Lip Blush service is CAD $550 and includes your initial treatment plus one complimentary Perfecting Touch Up. A $100 deposit is required at booking and goes toward your total. We believe in transparent, all-in pricing. There are no hidden fees for the touch up, which is an essential part of the process. What is the difference between lip blush and lip filler?

Lip blush and lip filler are two very different treatments that address different concerns, and many clients eventually choose to explore both. Lip blush adds colour, definition and shape. It corrects asymmetry, restores vibrancy to pale or washed-out lips, and sharpens the border. It does not add physical volume. Lip filler adds volume and structure using injectable hyaluronic acid. It can make lips appear fuller and more plump but does not change the colour. If your main concern is colour, unevenness or a faded border, lip blush is likely the better fit. If you want more fullness, filler may be worth exploring. Many clients get lip blush first and decide they don't need filler once they see how much definition and vibrancy the colour alone adds.

Can lip blush work on dark or uneven lips?

Yes, and this is one of the most rewarding uses of lip blush. Many clients come to us with lips that are darker around the edges, have an uneven tone, or show hyperpigmentation from sun exposure or natural colouring. We select a warm, neutralising shade that visually evens out the tone and brings the whole lip to a more balanced, fresh-looking result. A full colour correction on very dark lips may require more than one session to build up coverage gradually, and we will be honest with you during your consultation about what is realistically achievable in one visit. Results vary by skin depth and the degree of pigmentation, so we prefer to assess your lips in person or via a consultation before making promises.

What colours can I choose and will it look natural?

We carry a wide range of pigments, from sheer nudes and soft pinks to deeper roses and berry tones. During your appointment we work with you to select a shade that complements your natural skin tone, your personal preference and the look you want to achieve every day. Lip blush is designed to look like your lips on their best day, not like lipstick. The colour is deposited softly and built up in layers, so even a deeper shade reads as natural warmth rather than a painted-on look. If you are unsure about colour, we recommend booking a free consultation so we can show you options in person.

I get cold sores. Can I still get lip blush?

Yes, but extra precaution is required. Any procedure that involves needling the lips can trigger a dormant Herpes Simplex (HSV-1) flare-up, even if you haven't had a cold sore in years. An active outbreak during healing can also affect how the pigment settles and the quality of your final result. We strongly recommend that clients with a history of cold sores speak to their doctor about a short course of antiviral medication (such as Valacyclovir) starting 2 to 3 days before the procedure and continuing through the healing period. Please let us know at booking so we can flag this on your file. You must be completely outbreak-free for at least 2 weeks before your appointment. We reserve the right to postpone your service if an active cold sore or any other lip irritation is present on the day.

Can I get lip blush while pregnant or breastfeeding?

No. We do not perform lip blush or any PMU service on clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Hormonal changes during pregnancy and nursing affect how your skin heals and retains pigment, which can lead to poor, unpredictable results. The numbing agents used during the procedure have not been studied thoroughly enough in pregnant or nursing populations to be considered safe. We recommend waiting until at least 3 months after you have finished breastfeeding, or until your hormones have had time to stabilise, before booking. If you are planning ahead, a free consultation is a great way to ask questions and get on our radar for when the timing is right.
